Italy: Netherlands-based N+P has officially opened its first office in Milan. It is intended to serve the local waste market with significant growth in trading volumes expected in the future. The company will offer its full range of services locally including transfrontier shipment of waste documentation, logistics (by road, rail and water) and recovery solutions.

Poland: Norway’s Geminor has opened a new national office in Sopot and appointed Andrzej Zientarski as Country Manager. Kjetil Vikingstad, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Geminor, says that the resource management company’s presence in Poland comes as a response to the ‘booming waste market.’ Although company is focusing on recycled waste wood the territory is also seeing a growing energy recovery sector in Poland, and it has numerous refuse-derived fuel (RDF) and solid recovered fuel (SRF) projects underway.

Poland: Germany’s Vecoplan has opened an office in Warsaw to support the local market. Vecoplan Polska opened its branch office in November 2018. Ireneusz Suszyna will be the local lead for domestic and commercial waste and refuse-derived fuel (RDF). Machine and service sales will be handled by the new office and technical and project support will be provided from the head office in Bad Marienberg in Germany.

Denmark: Metso plans to relocate its waste recycling business to a newly built factory and office. Part of the relocation costs will be funded by selling the current property and estate in Horsens and the company has already received an offer from a local developer for its current site. The transaction is subject to final approval of the area's development plan by the Horsens city council. The new facility is estimated to be ready in 2020.

Metso's recycling business provides equipment and services for mechanical treatment of metal scrap and solid waste. The waste recycling business has about 100 employees in addition to an extensive distributor and agent network. In total, over 800 Metso waste shredders are currently in operation globally, most of them in China, the UK, Germany, France and Italy.

UK: N+P has appointed Neville Roberts as Managing Director UK for N+P Alternative Fuels. He will be based in N+P’s new UK office in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire. His appointment follows the expansion of N+P to supply refuse derived fuel (RDF), solid recovered fuel (SRF) and its Subcoal product into UK domestic and European markets.

Roberts, a chemical engineer, has worked in the cement industry for over 35 years. He has worked for Rugby Cement, the Saudi Cement Company, RTZ Cement, Castle Cement, RMC and Cemex. Most recently he has been advising businesses, including N+P, on the use of alternative fuels. Roberts has specialised in production management and in particular the use of alternative fuels on cement kilns. Prior to leaving Cemex at the end of 2013 he was focussing heavily on alternative fuels in his role as Energy Business Development Director.
