Laos/Indonesia: Thailand-based UAC Global plans to invest US$2.89m in an upgrade to its Khammouane refuse-derived fuel (RDF) plant. The plant will supply RDF to Siam Cement Group (SCG) for use in its operations in the country.

The Bangkok Post newspaper has reported that UAC Global plans to build a US$5.78m RDF plant in Sukabumi, Indonesia. The plant will use 73,000t/yr of municipal solid waste (MSW), in addition to waste recovered from a 500,000t-capacity landfill site.

India: Coimbatore Municipal City Corporation says that it has reached a rate of 54,800t/yr in refuse derived fuel (RDF) deliveries to cement plants in Tamil Nadu's Ariyalur District. The Indian Express newspaper has reported that the corporation collects 1000t/day of waste, from which its sorts 150t/day of non-biodegradable waste into RDF. It has launched landfill mining at a 26.7ha tip in Vellalore, where it expects to extract several tens of thousands of tonnes more of non-biodegradable waste.

India: Waste-processing company Green Worms has won a contract for landfill extraction, refuse-derived fuel (RDF) processing and transportation to cement plants from the town authority of Fort Kochi in Kerala. The New Indian Express newspaper has reported that recyclable material will be removed before the waste is processed into fuel. “89% of waste is recyclable. But the rest can be converted into RDF,” said Green Worms project manager Thajudeen Abubacker.
