Entsorga supplies solid recovered fuels storage, feeding and dosing systems to Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa

11 March 2022

Indonesia: Entsorga has dispatched two Spider bridge cranes and two Pelican feeding and dosing systems for the construction of two new solid recovered fuel (SRF) storage, feeding and dosing systems at Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa’s 11.9Mt/yr Citeureup cement plant in Bogor Regency. The systems will have a total capacity of 50t/hr. An advanced supervision system will monitor and control their 24-hour operation. The Italy-based supplier says that both lines are highly automated and will reduce both CO2 emissions and fuel consumption.

CEO Francesco Galanzino “The systems will help the cement plant to maintain its 2030 sustainability commitments, in line with the policies of HeidelbergCement who is a real first mover in the path toward sustainability. Such project it is a very important step in a Country where environmental policies are in their early stage.”

ACC and Ambuja Cements install second Geocycle Bubble Barrier in waterway

03 March 2022

India: ACC and Ambuja Cements have together installed a Geocycle Bubble Barrier plastic waste separator in Bhakra Beas Management Board Lake at Sunder Nagar, Himachal Pradesh. The installation will collect the waste for use as refuse-derived fuel at ACC’s Gagal cement plant in the state.

The Holcim India subsidiaries’ first such installation, on the Mantola Canal in Uttar Pradesh, has collected 500t of plastic waste since its commissioning in April 2021, and is targetting a total of 2400t in 2022.

Holcim India CEO and managing director Neeraj Akhoury said "We are committed to building a sustainable future by adopting clean and green technologies. Our efforts and expertise in co-processing has created a unique solution to sustainable disposal of the marine plastic waste that creates pollution. This initiative will also contribute towards promoting circular economy. Taking this mission ahead, we will continue our efforts to implement this innovative technology across the country."

FLSmidth to carry out Pacasmayo cement plant upgrade

15 December 2021

Peru: FLSmidth has secured a contract for the supply of a new pyro line for Cementos Pacasmayo’s Pacasmayo cement plant near Lima. The new line will give the plant an additional production capacity of 0.6Mt/yr. The supplier says that it plans to install a Cross-Bar cooler, low-NOx calciner, Jetflex burner, equipment for dosing and feeding and process automation. FLSmidth says that the upgrade will reduce the plant’s energy consumption and open new opportunities for the use of alternative fuel (AF).

FLSmidth’s head of projects and upgrades and senior vice president Anders Josefsen said “We are very excited to work with Cementos Pacasmayo on this project – not only on growing the business, but doing it in a sustainable way. The new line will be equipped with a state-of-the-art pyro system including several of our MissionZero solutions. With this, Pacasmayo makes a significant investment in future-proofing its production.” He added “The Pacasmayo project is a prime example of our capabilities within process design: ensuring the integration to an existing plant, while also demonstrating our ability to deliver equipment that meets demands for energy and fuel efficiency.”

FLSmidth to supply HotDisc-S combustion device and feeding systems for Indocement’s Tunggal Prakarsa cement plant

25 November 2021

Indonesia: FLSmidth has won a contract for the supply of a new alternative fuel (AF) line to Indocement’s Tunggal Prakarsa cement plant consisting of a HotDisc-S combustion device and feeding systems. The supplier says that the line will enable AF derived from municipal solid waste (MSW) to replace coal at the plant.

Cement business president Carsten Riisberg Lund said that MSW processing is ‘a growing challenge in many parts of the world.’ He continued, “The cement industry is well-positioned to be part of the solution, and we see more and more cement producers successfully replacing fossil fuels with AF. Untha signs distribution agreement with Axia

07 October 2021

Japan: Austria-based Untha has awarded an exclusive distribution agreement in Japan to Axia. The distributor has taken delivery of a mobile Untha XR shredder for use as a demonstration unit at its customer sites and ordered six more models.

Axia CEO Kazunori Kawata said “China’s ban on waste plastic imports means Japan has sharpened up on its domestic recycling capabilities. The introduction of Untha’s engineering experience will really disrupt the market. Operators are starting to think differently about machine reliability, throughputs and lifecycle costs. As a nation, we must increase our productivity and capacity, and we need a different class of machine to be able to do this – one that is highly configurable, versatile and built to last. Output precision is also crucial.” He added “If Japan is to enhance its commitment to the environment, it is important that we seek to use energy efficient technologies within our waste and recycling facilities. Renowned globally for using 75% less energy than competitors’ diesel-hydraulic machines, the Untha XR shredder doesn’t just improve the net carbon impact of the process – it keeps fuel costs low, too. Some customers have been known to save US$135,000/yr in fuel costs alone.”

Geocycle installs UNTHA shredder

06 May 2020

Spain: Switzerland-based LafargeHolcim subsidiary Geocycle has commissioned an UNTHA XR3000C shredder at its Albox waste processing plant in Almeria. The 15,000t/yr shredder will process domestically-produced commercial and industrial waste, including oil- and solvent-contaminated textiles, plastics, paper and cardboard, into fuel suitable for co-processing at any of LafargeHolcim’s five Spanish cement plants. Geocycle Operations Manager Raúl Lannegrand said, “Co-processing is recognised by the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) Basel Convention and the European Commission as a practical, cost-efficient, safe and environmentally-preferred waste treatment method, so it was important for us to make the most of the landfill diversion opportunity we had identified in Spain.”

Entsorga installs AF line at Hungarian plant

23 April 2020

Hungary: Italy-based Entsorga has completed the installation of an automated alternative fuel (AF) line at a Hungarian cement plant. The plant is believed to be Nostra Cement’s 1.0Mt/yr integrated Kiralyegyháza cement plant, which in early 2020 received an AF fuel store expansion aimed at bringing AF substitution rates to 80% from 60%. The upgrade consists of an Entsorga Spider crane and Pelican power system which will be able to maintain a continuous feed to the plant’s calcination system 24 hours a day.

Entsorga CEO Francesco Galanzino said, “Bringing a commission to a successful conclusion in the middle of the maximum intensity period of the coronavirus crisis has been a great satisfaction. The cement plant will make significant savings in CO2 emissions.”
