Denmark: Norway-based Geminor has established a solid recovered fuel (SRF) production line with a capacity over 40,000t/yr at its Hub waste processing plant in Aalborg. The line will shred and mix municipal solid waste from the region. Geminor will supply 120,000t of SRF to Aalborg Portland Cement over a three year period starting from January 2021. The line includes a chain feeding conveyor supplied by Westeria, a Metso 4000-8 pre-shredder, a Steinert magnetic sorter and a Metso 3550 fine shredder. Aalborg Portland Cement is targeting a 75% SRF substitution rate at its Aalborg cement plant over the period.
Metso launches two new pre-shredders in K-series
24 June 2019Finland: Metso has launched two new pre-shredders in its K-series. The new products are intended for sites with production requirements between 5 – 45t/hr. They are intended for market development in Asia. Particular features of the K-series include: both a synchronous and asynchronous shredding system with two shafts; a knife geometry that the company says reduces the risk of wrapping on the shafts; a modular system; and a build that allows easy access for maintenance.
Metso signs service agreement for waste recycling equipment with Core Industrial Solutions in the UK
28 January 2019UK: Sweden’s Metso has signed a service partner agreement for its M&J waste recycling equipment with Core Industrial Solutions. The deal will allow Metso to improve the availability of its services to the waste recycling industry. It has over 100 waste recycling machines in the UK.
"Complemented by Core Industrial Solutions' expertise and commitment, our services will enable maximised plant and operational efficiency with continuous maintenance," said Jens Peter Martensen, General Sales Manager, Metso Waste Recycling at Metso. Metso has also strengthened its overall setup and customer service in the UK and Ireland, by increasing sales personnel amongst other measures, to respond to growing customer needs.
Metso to move waste recycling business in Denmark
21 August 2018Denmark: Metso plans to relocate its waste recycling business to a newly built factory and office. Part of the relocation costs will be funded by selling the current property and estate in Horsens and the company has already received an offer from a local developer for its current site. The transaction is subject to final approval of the area's development plan by the Horsens city council. The new facility is estimated to be ready in 2020.
Metso's recycling business provides equipment and services for mechanical treatment of metal scrap and solid waste. The waste recycling business has about 100 employees in addition to an extensive distributor and agent network. In total, over 800 Metso waste shredders are currently in operation globally, most of them in China, the UK, Germany, France and Italy.
